Commercial Manager (Agro - Processing)

The position requires a strong leadership ability, both at team and organisational level. A high level of commercial and financial skills, i.e. management accounting, financial management and financial reporting, combined with superior business acumen, commercial sense and strategic intelligence is a requirement.

Description

Duties:

1.      Commercial and Operational support:

  • A strong commercial sense and the ability to undertake financial evaluations, scenario planning and sensitivity analyses is required in order to support the business’s decision-making processes.

  • As part of the leadership team, extensive consultation and interface with team members, particularly production and sales must take place regularly, in order to understand and develop product,  profitability costing

  • It is imperative to gain an in depth understanding of the logistical footprint and the integrated nature of the ERP system underpinning the operation in order to troubleshoot problems, understand the implications of operational and system changes and to be able to enhance systems and processes

2. Financial and Management Reporting:

  • Financial information must be accurate, timely and prepared on a basis consistent with International Financial Reporting Standards, applicable legislation (ie. Companies Act, Income tax act, VAT Act) and Group Accounting policies

  • Ensuring compliance with  standards and systems of internal control. 

 3. Budgeting and forecasting:

  • Developing and delivering holistic budgets and forecasts cognisant of operational dynamics, budgetary guidelines, external factors and strategic themes.

4.      Management of finance department

  • Sound processes for the approval of  new customer applications and credit limit increases are required .

  • Effective  supervision of staff, and the  carrying  out of performance and KPA reviews is expected

  • Effective running of the Finance Dept, ensuring develiverables are produced at a high standard.  

  • Overseeing  the following functional areas within the finance department; Credit Control, Claims, Costing, System Master-data Maintenance and Accounting.

5.         Systems of internal control and risk management

  • Review exception reports and master-file amendment reports.

  • Liaise with internal auditors and address audit findings.

  • Involvement in risk identification and risk management processes.

 Requirements:

  • A CA  qualification is essential, and the added possession of an advanced business qualification such as an MBA would be advantageous.

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience at senior level in a commercial environment with a successful track record. 

  • SAP experience would be an advantage
